"I went through everything as far as morning drills, but the first day we put on pads was the day I got hurt. I ran into Dontae (Walker). It was a mishap. We were told not to hit the running back starters a certain way and I kind of got the bad end of it. The first play of the scrimmage I got an interception so my expectation was to step it up, play good and help the Bulldogs on the defensive side of the ball."
How's your rehab coming along?
"I've been doing rehab since the surgery. I am about 85% now. It doesn't really hurt prior to when I work out. But after I work out, lift and then sit down, it kind of aches a little bit. It was hard on me at first because it set me back a lot. I was coming off a season where I really didn't get to play that much. I was on an up-tempo beat with my attitude as far as helping the team."
What are you able to do right now?
"I work out. I lift and run. I run at a certain time on certain days. I run with Justin Jenkins and Michael Gholar."
You look like you have lost some weight.
"When I was playing, I was at 217. Now, I'm down to 195 and 200. I'm going to try and stay at that weight because I can jump higher and run faster now. I also feel comfortable covering at this weight. I think that is the plus from this injury. I guess everything happens for a reason."
When do you feel you will be 100%?
"Hopefully, around two-a-days I will be 100%. I probably won't tackle as much at first but during scrimmages I will do everything."
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
"This year is my senior season and I want to try to lead the team in sacks and interceptions. If I can give (quarterback Kevin) Fant the ball a lot, then I feel I will have helped the team."
