Brent Tanner Profile Page:

One of the top ten players in the state of Mississippi according to an anonymous Major League Baseball scout and ProspectsPlus (6th in their Mississippi ranking), Brent Tanner will continue his high school playing career this summer with a couple of all-star games.

"I was selected to the Whitney Bank All-Star Classic, which will be played at St. Martin's. I also made the Crossroads Diamond Club team in Clinton," said Brent.

He's also going to be playing with one of the elite Mississippi traveling baseball teams througout the summer.

"I'm playing with the (Mississippi) Stars senior team this summer," said Brent, who hit about .370 with 3 home runs and 32 RBIs. "We play our first games Sunday at Hinds Community College. The first game is 12 o'clock and the second one is 3. We may come back Monday if we win."

As for the Major League Baseball Draft, it looks like the Bulldog coaching staff got lucky with Brent. A few scouts watched him, but it doesn't look like he'll be a high draft pick this summer.

What are the scouts saying about Brent? One told me that Brent has very good power, is good defensively and has a good arm. He feels that Brent will be a power hitter at State and will be a player MLB scouts will follow throughout his MSU career to see how he develops.
