Why did you decide to transfer to Mississippi State?
"I didn't see any future at Alcorn. My freshman year, I played six games. Then, during the spring, they switched me to defense (to noseguard). I didn't see any playing time and was redshirted. I wanted to play."
You were here during the spring. What did you hope to accomplish during the spring?
"I wanted to come here and see if I could play against SEC players."
How do you think you did during the spring?
"I think I did pretty good."
Talk about this summer and what you are trying to accomplish?
"I'm trying to get in shape and lose weight."
You are now 401. How much did you weigh coming out of the spring?
"When I first got up here, I was 410."
How much do you want to get down to?
How tall are you?
So, you think 370 is your optimum weight?
"No, I really want to get down to about 315 to 320."
What are your plans for this coming season?
"I can't play this year. I will have to lose a year." (Rusty, because he transferred from Alcorn State, has to sit out one year.-Gene).
