MSU Collects Awards in CoSIDA Contests

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) decorated the Mississippi State athletic media relations staff with a quintet of awards, including one Best In the Nation laurel, at its annual workshop held this week in Nashville.

The 2005 version of the Mississippi State soccer media guide was deemed Best In The Nation, finishing ahead of 54 other entries in that category, while also placing first among eight entries in district six. Assistant athletic media relations director Todd Anderson, who recently completed his seventh year of service with MState, designed and edited the publication.

State's men's and women's tennis guides finished third and fourth, respectively, among 18 entries in district six which encompasses colleges and universities from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The men's tennis publication, designed and edited by John R. Cade and Jay Middleton, finished third in the district, while the women's guide, designed and edited by Tony Schmidt, was deemed fourth-best among district entries.

The 2006 Mississippi State baseball poster finished sixth among 101 entries in that contest. The poster was designed by MSU marketing intern Miller Boisseau and assistant athletic media relations director Joe Dier, with supervision by athletic promotions coordinator Susan Robertson.
