Ravern Johnson, along with almost all of the top juniors and seniors in the state of Mississippi as well as several top out-of-state players, participated in the Wayne Brent/Reebok Showcase held Tuesday at Tougaloo College. Since it was an NCAA sanctioned event, college coaches were in attendance. Mississippi State (Robert Kirby), LSU (John Brady), Ole Miss (Andy Kennedy), Oklahoma (Rod Barnes), Vanderbilt, Colorado, Houston and Tulane were some of the more well-known schools that were at the showcase. There was a total of between 25 and 30 colleges represented.
Drills were done the first three hours of the showcase, then two games were played during the evening. Although he had to miss the drills due to a prior commitment, Ravern was able to play in the nightcap. Each game was divided into 6 seven-minute sections. In the second game, each player played three complete sections. Ravern, in his 21 minutes of action, scored 23 points, including one three-pointer and all 4 of his free throw attempts.
