Jessie Bowman: Making Lifestyle Changes

Copiah-Lincoln Community College defensive tackle Jessie Bowman, one of the top junior college defensive linemen in the state of Mississippi, has been working hard to get his weight down and his academics up. And he is seeing the fruits of his labor.

The last time I talked to Jessie he was in the 335 range after weighing as much as 350. Not anymore!

"I weigh 310 now. I'm going to try to get to 305 for the season," said an obviously proud Jessie Bowman. "I'm not doing what I used to do, the late night eating. I've cut that out. All I've been doing is attending summer school and working out. I'm taking 12 hours of classes this summer."

As for recruiting, three schools are on his radar screen.

"Ole Miss and Mississippi State are showing interest in me," said Jessie. "I haven't heard from Mississippi State in a while. Alabama is showing a little interest in me. Jimmy (Johns) is over there. I played with him. I talk to him like every other day. He talks to me and is trying to get me over there."

Those three are, as you might expect, at the top of his list.

"I'm interested in Mississippi State and Ole Miss. And Alabama," said Jessie, who originally signed with Mississippi State out of high school.

Now that Jessie seems to have made the necessary changes in his lifestyle that will once again give him the opportunity to become that dominating football player that he was in high school, look for Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama to keep an eye on him this coming season as they continue to evaluate his progress.
