"South Carolina is a school that has recently started showing more interest in me. I talked to them on the phone and he said that they have been watching a lot of gamefilm on all the quarterbacks and that they are really interested in me," said Wes. "He said they possibly may set up an official visit. There is definitely more interest than before."
Although they didn't extend a scholarship offer, that is a possibility.
"He said they would get back to (me about) that shortly, but I don't know exactly when," said Wes.
While South Carolina is thinking about an offer, four schools decided to make their offers a while back. As of now, two of those four stand out the most.
"The ones in my mind that would probably stick out more would be Mississippi State and NC State because they show the most interest and they were the early offers," said Wes, who also has Central Florida (offer), Duke (offer), Miami (FL) and, probably, South Carolina on his list.
It appears one school, Mississippi State, makes no bones about it: Wes is their No. 1 prospect at quarterback.
"Mississippi State has pretty much told me that I'm their guy and that they are just waiting for my decision and basically that that spot is open for me and not anyone else because they are through evaluating quarterbacks," said Wes. "It's good to know that I have a school that is waiting for me. It's definitely a confidence-booster."
Does he plan on taking all of his official visits? If so, any chance he might take some or all of them during the season?
"I would like to take them (during the season) and see a game as long as it doesn't conflict with my season. I think that would help a lot. I have talked to buddies who have graduated and they said it helps to see what it's like during a game and in the locker room."
While it might work out that he is able to take his official visits during the season, he's not sure that he would commit early.
"I have the same thought about not committing too early. I'm still keeping my options wide open," said Wes.
We'll check back with Wes in about a month to get the latest update.
