"Basically, I was running drills, running 110's, and lifting weights. I was going by what the other guys who were already here told me. Guys like Brandon (Downing), Mario (Haggan) and (Robert) Spivey."
You've been here for about three weeks now. Do you feel you were in shape or is it a little more than you expected?
"I was in some shape, but it has been more difficult than I expected. They expected more out of you. We ran a lot harder than I expected. It has been a challenge."
I was out here yesterday and saw you guys having to run four sprints, two 110's and two 220's. I noticed, for the most part, the veterans were leading the pack. How tough was that on you young guys?
"It was tough. We just looked at it as a race. While they were leading the race, we know that we have to get where they are at. We know we can't stop. Even if we had to crawl, we weren't going to quit."
Donald Lee told me he was dizzy from those sprints. Were you dizzy as well?
"Yeah, I was dizzy and real tired. I wanted to throw up, but I had nothing to throw up."
To complete that drill must have given you a lot of confidence.
"After you get your breath back, it makes you feel good about yourself."
Talk a little about the upcoming season. You are going to be a true freshman so you really don't know what to expect.
"Well, number one is to win and win the SEC Championship. We need to be focused so that we can get back to the Mississippi State tradition of winning."
What do you hope for individually?
"I just hope to get on the field and play. I would like to play this year, but if I have to redshirt, I'll take a redshirt."
