"Matt (Fast) played extremely well today," said MSU head coach Clay Homan. "He played better than his score indicated; he could have shot 66 or 67 if he could have gotten some putts to fall."
Two other Bulldogs had an under-par round on the first day. Sophomore Brian Mason turned in a 2-under 70 in the second round to pace the MState second-round score. Carlos Sainz, Jr. finished his second round with a 72 to close out the MSU scorecard.
"We have a chance tomorrow but we are going to have to make a bunch of birdies to do it," added Homan.
The final round will get underway at 7:30 a.m. CST with split tees at No. 1 and No. 10.
