Walker Receiving Calls from Seven

Madison-Ridgeland Academy quarterback Dallas Walker has two offers on the table from Southern Miss and Memphis. He's also receiving serious interest from five other colleges - Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn, Nebraska and Mississippi State.

All of the coaches from those seven have recently called him and want him to come in for an unofficial visit to a game.

Dallas Walker talked about his situation with each of the seven.

"I've talked to Memphis and Southern Miss just in the past week," he said. "Memphis will be here to watch the Prep game next Friday and Southern Miss is a maybe right now. Next Saturday, I'm going to the Tennessee-Memphis game. I'm excited to check out (that game) because it has always been a big rival game for Memphis."

Southern Miss is also setting up plans for a game.

"(Southern Miss) wants me to come to the Houston game."

An advantage both of those schools have is his familiarity with their coaching staff. Actually, three of the seven have that advantage.

"I've gotten to know (Souther Miss head) Coach Bower and Coach Hopson well because I'm been going to their camp since I was a freshman," noted Dallas. "I've gotten to know all their coaches. As far as coaching staffs that I've met, State has a great coaching staff and Southern and Memphis also have great coaching staffs."

Another huge factor in Memphis' and Southern Miss' favor is the fact that they both want him to play quarterback. And possibly play early.

"Both want me as a quarterback and they are talking about early playing time. That's definitely a factor," explained Dallas. "I want to go somewhere where I have a shot of early playing time. I would actually want to redshirt because it would allow me to get a year under me and give me a chance to learn the offense and see how everything works."

As for the other five schools calling him, Dallas feels good about their interest.

Texas A&M - "Last week, Coach Pope from Texas A&M called. He had heard about me and had watched film of me on Scout.com. He said they want me to send them some game film. He said they are definitely interested and want me to come down for a game. I'm either going to their Oklahoma or Nebraska game. They are looking for one more quarterback to sign. Just from my size, they want to also look at me at wide receiver, too."

Alabama - "Sparky Woods from Alabama called (last week). It was kind of the same thing with him. We actually sent game film to him the next morning. He said they are going to look at it and call me back to let me know what the deal is. He said they are kind of looking at me for either quarterback or wide receiver. I'm definitely going to an Alabama game. Coach Woods wants to call me to see which game is best for me based on my schedule."

Auburn - "Coach Dunn of Auburn also called. I had sent him game film two weeks ago. He told me that he did get it. He plans on calling me back the middle (of this) week to let me know what they think. He said they are still definitely interested. As of now, I plan on going to the Auburn-Florida game."

Nebraska - "Coach Watson, the recruiting coordinator for Nebraska, called about a week ago. He said they are real interested. They had watched game film of me about a month ago. I sent him some more film and he said he would be getting back to me."

Mississippi State - "I've also talked to Coach McCorvey from State a few nights ago. He said he's still waiting on Coach Croom to sit down and talk about (an offer). I'm going to the State-West Virginia game. I'm going up early because they said they want to visit with me before the game."

Will the interest from those five result in an offer in the next month or two? Keep it on Scout.com to find out.
