STARKVILLE, MISS. - The Mississippi State (2-13-0, 1-7-0) soccer team looks to snap a season-long six-match SEC losing streak when they close its longest road trip of the season this weekend. The Bulldogs will take on East Division rival Kentucky (8-6-2, 3-3-1) Friday night at 6:00 p.m. (CT). MSU then returns home Sunday afternoon to face Vanderbilt (8-3-5, 4-2-2) at 1:00 p.m. at the MSU Soccer Field.

State is 3-4-0 all-time against Kentucky. The Wildcats won last year's meeting, 4-1, in Starkville. The Bulldogs return home Sunday afternoon to host Vanderbilt. The Commodores hold a 7-1-0 advantage all-time versus Mississippi State, and have won the last three.

Junior forward Treena Ferguson is currently tied for seventh in the conference with seven goals. She is also tied for tenth in points with 14.

Freshman Taryn Holland is currently fifth in the conference with 4.40 saves per game and eighth with 44 saves.

Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE , Miss. - Mississippi State's lady netters take action on the courts at the ITA South Regional Championships this weekend (Oct. 19-22) on the campus of the University of Alabama.

Head Coach Tracy Lane leads her women's tennis team back to a second appearance in Tuscaloosa, Ala., this fall after competing in the 21st annual Roberta Alison Fall Classic in Sept. She will look upon sophomore Martina Banikova's recent doubles success of a 5-2 record to help fuel the team for the upcoming weekend.

State will send six Lady Bulldogs to compete in singles, including Banikova, Valeriya Makarycheva, and Renee Joseph playing in the main draw. The two doubles teams will include Banikova and Elna de Villiers and Makarycheva and Joseph.

Singles play will start on Thursday at 8 a.m., CT at the UA's Varsity Tennis Courts and run through Sunday. Makarycheva will start off the tournament dueling with Georgia Tech's Christy Striplin. Shortly after, Banikova will face-off against Caren Seenauth of the University of Miami [Fla. ], and Joseph against Florida State's Jessica Wente.

In the Singles B draw, de Villiers will match-up against Stetson's Maya Miladinovic, Tatiana Feit against Ann-Marie Madric of the University of South Florida, and Daniela Juskova will compete against Florida A&M's Samaria Bailey.

The regional championships will include 20 teams from the South Region, including SEC programs Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi. The tournament is a qualifying event for the ITA National Indoor Championships (Nov. 2-5) in Columbus, Ohio.
