STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State University women's basketball team opened its 2006-07 campaign with a 86-56 win over the Houston Jaguars in an exhibition contest on Monday, Nov. 6 at Humphrey Coliseum.
MSU was led by sophomore Robin Porter's 14 points and 11 rebounds. In her first game for the Maroon and White, junior Imesia Jackson scored nine points and brought down eight boards. State out rebounded the Jaguars 61-44.
The Houston Jaguars were lead by Victoria Crawford with 21 points while Regiena Brown chipped in 11 points.
With the win, Mississippi State improved to 20-3 in exhibition contests during the Sharon Fanning era.
The Lady Bulldogs open regular season play Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. against Troy University. Friday's game will be the Lady Bulldog's first attempt for Fanning's 500th win.
