"I just committed to Mississippi State," said an obviously excited Wade Bonner. "I just told my recruiting coach, Coach (Reed) Stringer. He said that was the best news he's heard. He was excited. I think he was like more excited than me."
Wade chose Mississippi State over Arkansas.
"Arkansas had re-offered me last week when they saw my highlight tape," said Wade.
He explained why he decided to go ahead and commit to State.
"I had been thinking about it," said Wade. "I just did all my research. And they offered me in March and had been wanting me since then. To me, they had been showing me the most love of anybody that had offered me."
This wasn't a decision that came lightly.
"I had made my mind up that I was going there, but I wasn't sure when I was going to do it," he explained. "I just talked to my coaches and my family and (MSU) had been showing me love since day 1."
Now that his recruitment is over, what are his thoughts about how it turned out?
"It's a blessing from God," said Wade. "I never thought I would be in a situation like this. But He blessed me."
He gave his thoughts about not only playing college football but playing in the Southeastern Conference, possibly the toughest conference in college football.
"It's a big deal," noted Wade. "It's time to work even harder."
Wade, who is MSU's 29th commitment, will officially visit Mississippi State the weekend of January 19-21.
Here is Scout.com's Southeast Football Recruiting Regional Manager Miller Safrit's opinion of Wade. - "Wade Bonner is a blazing high school running back with balance to take a hit and keep moving. Can make a quick move and hits the hole well getting to the second level quickly. Moves very well laterally, gets into and out of his cuts well, and sees the open field well. More of an independent runner not showing the patience to allow blockers to set up before turning on the jets. Very physical corner playing close to the box, great acceleration."
