STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State University women's basketball team (4-3) returns home Wednesday evening to host the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (2-7) in a 7 p.m. contest at Humphrey Coliseum.
MSU enters Wednesday's game, trailing the short series with the Lady Techsters, 4-2. Louisiana Tech won last year's contest on Dec. 13, 2005 by a final of 52-41 in Ruston.
The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a 57-47 loss at Southern Mississippi on Sunday. After defeating Florida State, MState has dropped two straight. Junior Imesia Jackson scored 15 points and sophomore guard/forward Robin Porter brought down a career-high 15 rebounds. Freshman forward Bethany Washington racked in a season-high 14 boards.
Louisiana Tech fell to Louisiana-Monroe this past past weekend at the Taco Bell Classic in Monroe, La. The Lady Techsters out-rebounded ULM and was led in scoring by Ty Moore. Moore averages 13.6 points per contest, while bringing down 9.3 rebounds per game.
MSU still favors non-conference teams at home, having posted a 68-7 mark against those schools during the Sharon Fanning era. In the past 11 years, MState is 120-60 overall against those opponents.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Lady Bulldogs travel to nationally-ranked Purdue for a Saturday contest in West Lafayette with the Boilermakers. MState returns home on Tuesday, Dec. 19 for a 7 p.m. contest with the Grambling Lady Tigers. MSU Athletics will sponsor Christmas at the Hump during the game.
STARKVILLE, Miss. The Mississippi State women's basketball contest against Tennessee State at the Georgia Tech Holiday Tournament on Friday, Dec. 29 has been changed to a 2 p.m. CT tip-off. The Lady Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play at noon CT, but the time was changed to accommodate the day's first contest between Georgia Tech and Alcorn State.
MSU's Saturday contest times will remain the same. Should the Lady Bulldogs win, they will play the winner of the Georgia Tech/Alcorn State game at 2 p.m. CT. Otherwise, MState will play the noon CT game.
Friday's contest will be broadcast via the Bulldog Sports Network; however, Saturday's game broadcast is to be determined due to the MSU/George Mason men's game at 11 a.m. CT.
