"I committed to Mississippi State about an hour ago," said K.J. Wright. "I sat down with my family and talked about things and I decided to go ahead and do it. I spoke with Coach (J.B.) Grimes and Coach (Sylvester) Croom. They were real excited."
K.J. has been leaning the Bulldogs way for some time now, but a visit to Columbia, South Carolina gave him some cause for pause.
"The visit to South Carolina gave me a lot to think about," said Wright. "I had a really nice time there and they have an excellent program. In the end, I just felt Mississippi State was the place for me."
The first team All-State selection explains that overall the Bulldogs had more of what K.J. was looking for.
"MSU is a place that I think I can go in and make an impact and play early," said Wright. "My family was real high on Mississippi State, so that helped. It was just the best thing for me and family."
Coach Brick Haley recruited K.J. and the future linebacker reports that Coach Haley's style of recruiting made a difference.
"I can be myself around Coach Haley," said Wright. "I feel real comfortable talking with him. When you talk to some coaches you get kind of nervous and things like that. Coach Haley never made me feel that way. He has been on me since my junior year, so I have had the chance to get to know him for a while. We just have a good relationship."
K.J. chose Mississippi State over offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Southern Miss. He will visit the MSU campus the weekend of January 19th.
"I am firm in my decision," said the three star prospect. "The only other visit I am going on is my visit to Mississippi State. I'm done. I going to focus on making sure I have all of my grades in order and move on to other things now. I am ready to get up there and get rolling."
