STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State senior golfer Greg Huxman wrapped up his holiday break with a fourth-place finish at the Dixie Amateur Championship in South Florida this past week. The Miami, Fla.-native carded rounds of 69-66-70-76 (-3) in the four-day event.
The 83 year old tournament which dates back to 1924 was competed at Palm Aire Country Club's two championship courses – the Oaks and Cypress. The Dixie Amateur is one of the oldest amateur golf championships in the United States.
Huxman was tied for second thru the first three days before posting a final round 76. His round of 5-under was posted in the second round of the event at the par 71 Cypress Course. The event was won by Mu Hu of Celebration, Fla. at 9-under par.
Huxman and the Bulldogs will open the spring session on Feb. 19 at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate in Orlando, Fla.
