LaMarcus, an Ole Miss commitment prior to signing with MSU, visited State last weekend and came away very impressed.
"I always wanted to visit. I was just waiting on the right time to do it," said LaMarcus, who also took an unofficial visit to State last spring. "When the time came, I was really excited about being there and really enjoyed myself. It was like a big family. I really enjoyed myself while I was there."
After taking the visit, LaMarcus, rated the 48th best defensive tackle in the nation by Scout.com, made his decision to switch his commitment from Ole Miss to Mississippi State due to several factors.
"The players are really down to earth guys and made me feel like I was really at home," he said. "And the coaching staff treated me well and hit on some real good points while I was there. The depth chart is something you always look at because you want to play early and contribute to the team as soon as possible. And I think I can do that as soon as I get there."
LaMarcus joined 33 other prospects who signed with Mississippi State Wednesday.
As a senior, he made 42 tackles, including three sacks and seven tackles for loss. For his efforts, he was selected All-State and All-District.
