State Close To Finalizing 2007 Slate

Mississippi State University should be able to announce the 2007 Bulldog football schedule sometime during these next seven to ten days, athletic director Larry Templeton said Sunday afternoon at Humphrey Coliseum.

The lone remaining holdup in finalizing the slate for Coach Sylvester Croom's team is agreeing on the date of the Jacksonville State home game. The contest is currently scheduled for September 22 at Scott Field.

JSU also has had an agreement to play another opponent that same date. But if the Gamecocks are not able to fulfill their deal with Mississippi State for September 22, they will be available on November 3. That date opened up on MSU's schedule when the Alabama game was moved back to November 10.

Templeton said that regardless of date, Jacksonville State will be on this fall's schedule. The Gamecocks came to Scott Field last October with State winning 35-3.

Mississippi State has announced the first three dates of the '07 slate. The LSU game will be played on Thursday, August 30 at Scott Field, followed by road games at Tulane Sept. 8 and Auburn Sept. 15.

Other dates are: Sept. 29 at South Carolina, Oct. 6 vs. UAB, Oct. 13 vs. Tennessee, Oct. 20 at West Virginia, Oct. 27 at Kentucky, Nov. 10 vs. Alabama, Nov. 17 at Arkansas (in Little Rock), and Nov. 24 vs. Ole Miss.

The Egg Bowl is also being considered for moving to Friday afternoon, Nov. 23, but that is far from settled as of now.
