STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Mississippi State men's basketball team has been awarded the top seed in the North Region of the 2007 MasterCard National Invitation Tournament and will play host to in-state foe and No. 8 seed Mississippi Valley State, Tuesday night, March 13. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. CT at Humphrey Coliseum.
Tickets for the first-round contest will go on sale Monday, March 12, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT at the Bryan Athletic Administration Building ticket office. MSU basketball season ticket holders have until 4:30 p.m. Monday to order their tickets for the NIT and reserve their 2007 seat locations. Season ticket holders may also request a seat location improvement, if available, at that time. Orders may be placed via phone (662-325-2600) or in person at the ticket office. Season parking passes will be honored.
General public tickets will also go on sale starting Monday morning, but those orders will not be filled until season-ticket holder seats have been assigned.
MSU's top seed guarantees the Bulldogs will play at home as long as they continue to win, until the semifinal and final rounds which take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Ticket holders will be provided the opportunity to reserve the same seats to all three rounds of the tournament with Monday's order. Season ticket holders who do not place their order Monday are not guaranteed their seat location for second- and third-round games.
NIT tickets are $18 apiece and $4 for MSU students with a valid identification card.
MState's appearance in the 2007 NIT is the team's seventh postseason berth in nine seasons under head coach Rick Stansbury.
