"OK. My name is Jarvis Jackson. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. I was born and raised here. I play linebacker for Washington HS for coach Rodney Cofield."
What's your height and weight and 40 time?
"I'm 6-1, 205. I run a 4.5 or 4.6 in the 40."
I guess you've played a couple of games so far, right?
"No, we've only played one game and we have a game this Friday. We played in the Atlanta Classic against our rival school. We tied them 21 to 21."
Wow! It was a good game. How did you do?
"I had about 15 tackles and two sacks."
That's pretty good.
"I feel that they shouldn't have scored on us."
I've got you listed as an outside linebacker/strong safety - is that right?
"Yes, sir. My coaches tell me I might end up playing some strong safety. But I've been talking to some college coaches and they say they can put 20 or 30 pounds on me pretty easy."
Which position do you want to play?
"Linebacker. Outside linebacker. I really never played safety."
How has recruiting gone so far?
"It's gone good."
Who has been calling you?
"Clemson, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Mississippi, Auburn, and Pittsburgh."
What have they been saying about you?
"They said they are going to be recruiting me and they would be inviting me for a visit soon. I might be going to the Georgia Tech/Clemson game."
Well, how did you get hooked up with Mississippi State?
"I have some teammates up there, Nick Turner and James (Redmond), and the coach came to our school to watch them play. He saw me, Jerimie and Avery play. Do you know them?"
No, I don't know them.
"Avery plays safety and Jerimie plays cornerback. Avery is one of the best strong safeties in the country."
Is Mississippi State recruiting them too?
"Yes, I think so."
What are their full names?
"Jerimie Johnson and Avery Robinson."
Are you pretty good friends with Nick Turner?
"Yes, sir. And James too."
Well, do you have any leaders at this point?
"I feel pretty strong about Mississippi State. They are in my top five right now. I feel strong about going up there. If they invite me to campus, I wouldn't mind going for a visit. Jerimie and Avery saw Nick Turner this weekend at the game and he said if we went up there, he would be the one to be our tour guide and show us around."
Thanks for the interview Jarvis. I'll probably be talking to you later in the season. Good luck.
