Stansbury Talks About Goodridge Leaving

Mississippi State head basketball coach Rick Stansbury talks about Vernon Goodridge leaving and what he will do with the open scholarships that he now has available.

Talk about why you decided to give Vernon Goodridge his release so that he could transfer.
Stansbury - "After visiting with Vernon late (Thursday), we decided it was best for him to transfer so that he would have a better opportunity to play next year. He's only got one year of eligibility remaining and this will give him a better opportunity to play than he would have had here."

You've signed four recruits for next season - Riley Benock, Ravern Johnson, Elgin Bailey and Kodi Augustus - and you've had four players to transfer - Richard and Reginald Delk, Bernard Rimmer and Vernon Goodridge. When you take those two factors into consideration, how many scholarship do they open up for next year?
"This gives us an additional two for next year."

Are there any plans of possibly using either of them before the current recruiting period ends?
"Our tentative plans are to hold both for next year because we will only have one senior, Charles Rhodes. But if the right recruit or transfer comes along, we would use one. But as of right now, we have no plans on using either one.

"We will give one of them to (walk-on) Billy Begley, who will also be a senior next year."
