"Yes sir. But defensively, I'm mainly just closing up the holes. I have about 10 tackles on the season."
How have you improved this season?
"My pass-blocking has improved. This season I'm paying more attention to their body and not their feet. That keeps them in front of me. I also hustle a little bit more."
How are you doing offensively?
"32 pancakes, 7 (quarterback) hurries allowed, no sacks allowed."
I'm surprised you have allowed any quarterback hurries.
"In the first two games I think I allowed five and in these last two games I allowed two. I'm still working on it."
I'm surprised you have given up any hurries.
"In the Provine game I believe I gave up 3. I was playing both ways in that game and they were rotating players in and out. I think I faced 4 or 5 different ends that night. They had fresh legs and started getting around me."
Talk about the player that really impressed you that night.
"Terrence Kelly. I could see him playing some ball. He is strong and physical."
College coaches started calling players September 1st. Do you know off the top of your head the schools that have called you, so far?
"I don't know names (of coaches) but I know schools. Everybody in the SEC except for Vanderbilt and Kentucky, Clemson, Georgia Tech.....Southern Mississippi."
Have any of the coaches that have called you stood out?
"Coach (Jay) Hobson from Southern Miss really stands out. I don't hear a lot of recruiters saying this (about their school), but he said 'if Southern's not the place for you, then don't go.' You don't get a lot of coaches that come out and say don't go if it's not the place for you. I like that in a coach. And he doesn't mudsling other schools. That's good. I really like his style. He doesn't call much."
The last time I called you, I believe late May, you had scholarship offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, Mississippi State and Southern Miss. Has that list increased?
"Oh, yes sir (laugh). Everybody in the SEC except for Vanderbilt and Kentucky."
What about schools outside of the SEC?
"Clemson, Georgia Tech, Southern (Miss), Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Illinois, Indiana, the University of Louisiana-Monroe, Jackson State University, Alcorn State University....Rice University, Baylor....Colorado....I would have to go look at my list for the others."
I know it is really early in the recruiting process, but have you tried to narrow it down to a list of five or a similar number?
"If I could get it down to five I would be a very, very happy young man. So far, it is down to about 10 or 12. Florida, Mississippi State - in no particular order, of course - LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Southern Miss, Florida State....Clemson, Georgia Tech....and Ole Miss."
Are there a few that stand out above the rest among those schools?
"When it comes to football, there isn't, but academically the engineering schools have the lead."
Yeah, the last time we talked you mentioned how important the engineering schools were. You are really going to key on that, aren't you?
"Yeah, I know that Georgia, Auburn and Mississippi State have excellent engineering schools. And Georgia Tech also."
