STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State Director of Athletics Larry Templeton was reappointed as chairman of the NCAA Baseball Committee for the 2008 season, the national office has announced.
The announcement keeps Templeton at the head of the national committee that oversees college baseball, chooses sites for regional and super-regional competition, selects the 64-team playing field for the national tournament, and oversees the operation of that tournament and the College World Series, including selecting the umpiring crews, directing game operations personnel, and working with the radio and television talent.
It is Templeton's second tour of duty on the baseball committee. He is just the 18th chairman of that group, only the 11th to serve as chair of that committee for three years. He is also a former member of the NCAA Championship Committee, the NCAA Management Council and the NCAA Bowl Certification Committee.
In addition, Templeton begins his 15th year as chair of the Southeastern Conference Athletic Directors in 2007 and his second term on the SEC Executive Committee.
