MSU Baseball Recruiting Class Ranked 15th

<img src= align=left width=118 height=161> STARKVILLE, Miss. - <!--Default For Mississippi State is to ignore-->Mississippi State's 2001-02 baseball recruiting class has been ranked third in the SEC and 15th nationally in the annual compilation of the nation's top collegiate recruiting classes by Tucson-based Collegiate Baseball magazine.

The 12-player recruiting class includes nine high school and three junior college standouts, all nearing the completion of MSU's six-week fall baseball practices at Dudy Noble Field.

For the second time in five years, Georgia Tech topped the recruiting ratings, nipping Cal State Fullerton and ahead of No. 3 Louisiana State and No. 8 South Carolina. MSU was ranked 15th, ahead of No. 16 Mississippi, No. 20 Auburn and No. 21 Florida.

The 47-player MSU squad will be divided early next week in advance of State's annual best-of-five '"³Banana Split Series", set to begin Tuesday at Dudy Noble Field.

Bulldog fans will be afforded another opportunity to preview the 2003 Diamond Dogs on Homecoming weekend. This year's Maroon-White intrasquad game is set for 4 p.m. Friday, October 11, with no charge for admission.

Plans are also moving forward for the 10th Mississippi State Baseball Alumni Weekend on campus, highlighted October 27 by the 1:30 p.m. Alumni Game. More than 100 former Bulldog baseball players, coaches, managers and trainers are expected to gather for the popular reunion weekend activities.
