With the win, South Carolina cuts MSU's lead in the series to 6-5...The Gamecocks have now won the last three meetings between the teams.


Today marked MSU's eighth consecutive loss on the road, dating back to a 45-30 loss at Mississippi in 2000...It also marks the Bulldogs' seventh straight SEC road loss, dating back to that same Mississippi game.

MSU's interception in the fourth quarter (Richard Ball) was State's first pickoff of the 2002 season...With that INT, State's defense has now recorded at least one interception in 41 of its last 53 games played.

Since 1994, MSU is 34-7 (.829) when recording more takeaways than its opponent...The 'Dogs are now just 8-26 (.235) during the same span when posting fewer takeaways.


With his 106 yards receiving today, senior SE Terrell Grindle notched his third career 100-yard game (second of 2002)...That performance also moved him into eighth place on MSU's career list...Now with 1,437 career reception yards, Grindle surpassed Willie Harris (1,391; 1989-92) on that chart...Grindle's five receptions in today's game give him 101 career receptions, still standing sixth all-time at MSU in that category...Grindle has now hauled in at least one pass in 19 consecutive games.

With his four receptions in the game, senior FB Justin Griffith moved into a tie for 10th place on State's career pass receptions list...Now with 74 career catches, he tied Willie Harris (1989-92)...Griffith set the MSU single-season record for receptions by a running back in 1999 with 37.

Junior QB Kevin Fant's 20 pass completions in the game matched his career best, which he also had vs. BYU last season.

Senior CB Richard Ball's interception in the fourth quarter was the first of his career.

Sophomore SE Ray Ray Bivines matched a career best with his four receptions in the game (also had four vs. Auburn earlier this year).

After leaving the game with an injury early in the game, junior FL Justin Jenkins had his streak of 15 straight games with at least one reception broken.

Sophmore TB Fred Reid made his second career start today, the first of 2002.

Senior FS Michael Gholar made his first career start today.

Freshman DOG Darren Williams made his first career start today.

Freshman OT Richard Burch made his first career start today.
