Osby Enjoys Bulldog Visit

Mississippi's top prep basketball prospect for the 2008 signing class, Romero Osby, is headed to Mississippi State for his college days. Osby took his official visit to Mississippi State this past weekend.

The talented Osby came in this past weekend for his visit along with fellow commitments Dee Bost and Scotty Hopson.

"It went great," said Romero. "We had a really good time. The camaradarie is there. We are going to be real good together. All three of us are unselfish, so we're going to be good together."

The Homecoming weekend was filled with activities, but the visiting prospects spent most of their time building relationships with their future teammates.

"We just hung out with the players mostly," said Osby. "I have been up there a lot, but this was the first time that a lot of people had seen Scotty and Dee. This was their first time to enjoy a little bit of the nightlife up there."

While the talented trio enjoyed some recreational time, the weekend would not have been complete with out taking in some time together on the court.

"We made some time to get in the gym," said Romero. "Even though this was a weekend for having a good time, we still had to get that workout in and get our time in on the court. We got to shoot around a little bit in the Hump. They have that new floor in there now, it's beautiful."

Romero is no stranger to the Mississippi State campus. The talented forward has had the chance to rip a net or two before in Humphrey Coliseum before, but this weekend had a different feel to it.

"It was fun," said Osby. "It seemed more like a workout than just a shoot around. This was the first time all three of us were together, so we wanted to see what each other could do. I played against Scotty and I have played with Scotty before, but neither one of us had seen Dee. It was good to kind of shoot around together and kind of get a feel for each other."

The three highly touted prospects had the chance to see all things Bulldog over the weekend, but it appears the time spent away from schedules or meetings was the most enjoyable for Romero.

"Just hanging out with the guys was the best," said Romero. "We had all been to camps, we had all been to football games before and we had all shot in the gym before, but this was the first time we could just sit and talk for a while and get to know each other better."

From the sound of things it looks like the Maroon and White weekend could not have gone any better.

"I think I speak for all of us when I say it's all pretty much wrapped up," said Osby. "We're all planning on signing on that first day, November 13th."
