"I was just calling to tell you I finally made the decision where I'm going to play ball," said Trevor. "I'm going to play for Mississippi State."
Trevor explained why Mississippi State.
"I sat down with my coaches and my family members and we listed everybody that had offered me a scholarship. We wrote down the pros and cons, such as things like family and playing time, where it's at," said Trevor. "And no one really came close to Mississippi State. It's a good atmosphere, so why waste time going on official visits when you know where you want to go play ball.
"Basically, it's home to me because I was born and raised in Crawford, Mississippi. That is where my grandparents are. I go there almost every weekend. I came down here (to Ridgeland) my 9th grade year."
As for which schools MSU beat out, he had narrowed his list to five.
"I had everybody on my list, but I was considering Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee," explained Trevor.
Trevor is the second top defensive line prospect from the Jackson, Mississippi area to commit to Mississippi State. Canton High School defensive tackle Joshua Jackson committed a couple of weeks ago. When asked if that factored into his decision, Trevor, who is good friends with Josh, said that really didn't.
"Not really, but it was kind of funny because when we went to a few camps together we always joked about going to the same college," noted Trevor. "And we've ended up going to the same college. It will be amazing to see us playing together side by side."
Trevor is MSU's 17th commitment.
