Mississippi State fans have once again stepped up to the plate in record numbers and purchased over 23,500 tickets to the Liberty Bowl game which will be played on December 29th at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee.
According to Mississippi State Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations Mike Nemeth, as of 1:00 pm Wednesday afternoon, MSU had sold 23,540 Liberty Bowl tickets. That number does not include any student tickets that have been sold today. However, the student ticket sales will be included in the total sales number that will be counted at the end of the day.
Due to the large volume of calls, the MSU ticket office has added additional telephone lines and personnel. In additional to that, the Bulldog Club has also added a few additional lines to help with ticket sales.
BTW, there is a rumor going around that the MSU athletic department purchased some of the $35 Liberty Bowl end zone tickets and are selling them to students for $50. The truth is MSU has only purchased the $50 tickets and are selling them for $50. According to Liberty Bowl officials that I talked to today, the end zone tickets were sold through the Liberty Bowl office and have been sold out for quite awhile. And those were sold to the local Memphis and surrounding area community and through corporate packages.
