One of Alabama's Top Juniors

Brandon Heavens, of Bessemer Academy, was selected Alabama's 2007 AISA Back of the Year after accounting for 3,119 total yards (730 rushing, 1,236 receiving, 585 kickoff return, 568 punt return) and 22 touchdowns. And two teams took notice of this very special player by offering scholarships.

"I have (scholarship) offers from Mississippi State and Auburn," said the 5-10, 170-pound speedster. "I don't remember the exact dates, but I think it was around November when they offered."

And both schools have told his high school coaches that they like him in dual roles.

"They are recruiting me as a kick returner and some wide receiver," said Brandon, who has helped lead Bessemer Academy to two straight 13-0 seasons the past two years. "My coaches told me that they like my speed on kick returns and things like that."

As of now, Brandon has his eye on several schools, including the two that have offered him.

"My favorite schools are Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, USC and Hawaii," noted Brandon.

Although he hasn't taken unofficial visits to either of the two that have offered him, he expects to find out a lot more about them and several others this coming summer.

"I plan on camping at all the schools that I like," confirmed Brandon.
