"Well, I'm 6-2, 180 and run a 4.5 in the 40. Sometimes a 4.4. I can play outside linebacker, safety, or cornerback, but right now I'm playing outside linebacker because we run a 4 - 4 defense. Our team is 5-1 and 1 and we are first in our division."
Coach (Rodney) Cofield is your coach, right?
What position will you play in college?
"More than likely I'll play defensive back. Either safety or cornerback."
Which position do you want to play?
"I want to play cornerback but I could play either one."
How are you doing on the year?
"Pretty good. I have close to 40 tackles, an interception, a few fumble recoveries, and a touchdown."
Did you attend any camps this past summer?
"I went to Clemson's camp. That's the only one."
I understand that Mississippi State is recruiting you. Is that correct?
"Yes sir. Coach (Jim)) Tompkins is recruiting me. He seems real down to earth. He is straight forward about everything."
What other schools are recruiting you the hardest?
"Georgia Tech, Indiana, Duke, Clemson, LSU, North Carolina, and a few more."
Which of those do you think you will set up official visits with?
"Georgia Tech, Clemson and probably Mississippi State."
Would you say those are your top three?
Are you pretty close to those guys?
"Yeah, pretty close. Pretty close. Every time they come down they come up to the school and talk to us."
I heard some bad news about Nick.
"Yeah, me too. I hope he didn't do it. But everything will be alright."
Yeah, me too. He's a pretty good athlete isn't he?
"Oh, yeah! I know that for sure. (laugh)"
Did you ever have to go up against him in practice last year?
"Oh, yeah. All the time. He really makes you have to tackle him cause Nick can change directions just like that. And the things I've seen him do in games are amazing."
You also mentioned big James. What about him?
"Yeah, he's down there and I heard he is doing pretty well."
So, back to you. What's going to help you decide where you are going to school?
"The depth chart at my position. The coaches, the atmosphere of the school. And if football doesn't work out, educational-wise who looks the best. And the graduation rate of the athletes."
That's good. What kind of scholarship offers do you have so far?
"Georgia Tech, Clemson, Duke, Indiana, Wake Forest, West Virginia and the University of Cincinnati."
Mississippi State has not offered you?
"No, not yet. I hope they offer me soon."
You have a couple of other highly recruited teammates on your team this year, right?
"Jeremie and Jarvis?"
Yeah. Are you guys thinking about signing as a package deal?
"Yes sir. We're thinking about going together as a package. We've been putting a lot of thought into that. But you never know. We would really hope to go to the same school because it]s mostly the same schools that are looking at us. We all have about the same top 3 or 4 schools. So most likely, we will go to the same school."
What kind of athlete is Jeremie?
"He is real good. He is a real good athlete. He has great hands. He is strong. He is a strong defensive back."
Have you been named to any lists or gotten any honors so far?
"Yeah, I was named to the state Super 11, and I made the Metro Super 11."
Wow. Is that named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution?
Well, congratulations. That's a big honor because there are a lot of great athletes in Georgia.
"Yeah, I was kind of surprised when I got that."
Well, congratulations again and I appreciate your taking the time to do this interview.
"Sure, no problem."
