Linzy (6-4, 214) is one of the top senior tight ends in the state of Mississippi this year.

Linzy, how are you doing this season stats-wise?
"I've gotten 9 catches for 168 yards. I've scored 2 touchdowns."

You need to tell your quarterback to throw more your way (laugh).
"It's more of the coaching schemes. We have some really good backs. I think we had three backs who have run for over 100 yards each a couple of games."

I've heard you have really good hands. In fact, I was told that you haven't dropped a pass during the season going back to your sophomore year.
"I've dropped one. It was a real low pass. That's it in three years."

I've noticed on the tape that I have of you that you are really hard to bring down. You are really great at stiff-arming. How long have you been stiff-arming like that?
"I guess the first time was during a JV game and our fullback was hurt. I played fullback. The second play of the game (quarterback) Matthew (Randle) handed it off to me and I took off down the sidelines and stiff-armed a guy. That was really the first time I did it."

It definitely works. When you stiff-arm players, it is really hard for them to get to you to make the tackle.

I'm curious. Do you get graded for your blocking as a tight end?
"Yes sir. We get grades. You have to make an 80 to pass."

How have you done this season?
"I've failed one game. That was against Aberdeen. The rest of them I've had 87, 96...the last game against Shannon I made 97."

After watching the tape, I was extremely impressed with your blocking ability. You really seem to take pride in your blocking. You don't just block a guy and release him. You stay on the block.
"Blocking is very important to me because we have some great backs. I know that it doesn't take more than a split second to make a cut and they can change a game very quick."

Yeah, you are a good blocker. I noticed in the Fulton game that the running backs run to your side of the ball a lot.
"Yes sir, they do."

Switching over to recruiting. What schools are calling you?
"Navy, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Memphis."

Hasn't Southern Miss started showing interest in you?
"Yes sir. I've heard that they have requested some tapes of me."

Do you have a favorite among those schools?
"I'm pretty neutral about all of them."

What do you like about each of the schools?
"I've visited all of them except for Navy. I like the atmosphere at all three of the schools."

That should just about do it, Linzy. I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me.
"Yes sir."

[Linzy is a very young senior who will turn 18 years old on November 15th.-Gene]
