"OK. I'm 5-11, 163, and my 40 was a 4.22."
4.22? Who timed you in that?
"My coaches timed me. They timed me several times."
That's blazing. And you play cornerback, is that right?
"Yeah, I play corner."
How was your season?
"We finished 7 and 3. I had 5 interceptions and I missed a game."
So you had 5 interceptions?
"Yeah, I had 12 in two years."
That's great. What other stats do you have, like tackles?
"I don't know for sure about tackles, but it's a lot."
What are the coaches who are recruiting you saying are your strengths as a cornerback?
"My strengths are bumping and running and coming up for tackles."
What about recruiting, how is that looking?
"Well, I have Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, K-State, South Carolina, Miami, just to name a few."
I've seen on several sites that Mississippi State is recruiting you too, is that right?
"Oh yeah. But I've mentioned them all the time so I thought you guys would know that."
I see. Which coach is recruiting you for Mississippi State?
"The tall, defensive coach, Coach (John) Hendrick."
What do you think about him?
"He seems like nice guy. He came up here in the spring and he calls me like once a week. From what I know of him, he seems like he's a nice guy."
Do you have an official visit set up to any of those schools you mentioned yet?
"I have Tennessee coming up. I have Michigan State on the 14th (of November). That's the first one, and I'm setting up the other ones as I speak."
You room with Corey Reddick, don't you?
"Yeah, I room with Corey."
With him being a top notch corner like you, I bet the phone is ringing off the hook in that room?
"Yeah, it rings all the time."
Now I'll ask a trick question - who is the better player between you two?
"(Laugh) I don't know. We just compete against ourselves really. I can't say who is better. Everybody says we're the same, so we just see who can outdo one another."
You guys must be pretty good friends?
"Yeah, we grew up together, since we were like 8 years old. We lived in the same hometown."
Is that right? Someone told me that you grew up with Korey Banks too. Is that true?
"Yeah, that's true. We grew up with him and played football with him. We lived like 5 minutes from him growing up."
When is the last time you talked to him?
"Early in the season, or it may have been in the summer. I saw him down in Florida on a break. He and D. Wright came down and I got to meet him."
Are you planning on taking an official visit to Mississippi State?
"I'm waiting to see. They want me to come up. I don't know the exact date but I'll find out that information soon."
What's going to be the deciding factor in helping you choose what school you are going to go to?
"If I like my visit, when I get down there with the players and coaches, I'll see how I fit in with the program. I'll look at the environment. I'll look at the academics to see if I can go on and graduate in two years. Graduation will be important to me."
Do you have a favorite school you keep up with?
"I haven't been able to keep up with anybody this year cause I've been so busy up here. So I don't know too much about what anybody is doing."
Are you and your roommate thinking about going somewhere as a package deal?
"It could be. It would need to be an environment where both of us can start and we're not competing against each other for the same spot."
So it would need to be a situation where both of you could start together right away?
I really appreciate the interview and the time. Thanks.
