Bessemer Academy has two of the best junior football players in the state of Alabama in wide receiver Brandon Heavens and linebacker Harris Gaston. And several SEC schools have made it clear that they would like to have the duo on their team.
Both Heavens and Harris received their first offers from Mississippi State University. Soon to follow was Auburn. Now, two more Southeastern Conference schools have joined the mix.
"Kentucky offered both Brandon and Harris about three or four days ago," said Bessemer Academy assistant coach Josh Wright. " And Brandon just received an offer in the mail from Tennessee."
And more offers may be on the way for the dynamic duo.
"Both are also receiving serious interest from Alabama, UAB and Georgia Tech," said Wright.
Brandon, who was selected Alabama's 2007 AISA Back of the Year after accounting for 3,119 total yards (730 rushing, 1,236 receiving, 585 kickoff return, 568 punt return) and 22 touchdowns, and Harris have led Bessemer Academy to two straight AISA state championships.
