STARKVILLE, Miss. - Online registration is now available for Mississippi State's 2008 summer softball camps which will be held in June and July on the MSU campus.

Complete information on the four summer camps, which will feature instruction from the coaching staff of the nationally-ranked Bulldogs, and the registration form can be found by going online to and clicking the softball and camps links.

The camps open June 9-11 with the Youth Day Camp, which is available for children ages 12 and under. A two-day camp for pitchers and catchers will follow on June 16-17, and the annual hitting camp will be held June 18-19. State's summer camps conclude July 14-17 with the annual Elite Skills Camp.

The youth day camp is open to ages 12 and under and features three days packed with softball drills, games and fun. The camp staff will work with campers on all aspects of the game from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

The pitching and catching camp, open to ages 10 and up, will work participants through a variety of drills and station work during the two-day period. The camp is designed to provide intensive instruction for both aspects of the battery, and it will allow athletes to work in an individualized manner on improving their pitching and catching skills.

Also open to ages 10 and up, the hitting camp includes two full days of hitting skills and drills that focus on developing campers into better all-around hitters. The camp builds from the fundamentals of hitting to the advanced aspects.

The final camp of the summer, the elite camp, covers all aspects of the game, including mechanics, skills and dozens of drills. Open to ages 12 and up, the elite camp teaches advanced skills and offers the opportunity to scrimmage each day. Athletes will also have the opportunity to work with some of the top coaches in Mississippi and the nation, as well as current and former Mississippi State softball players.

The Mississippi State softball team, which is ranked 23rd nationally in the latest Softball Top 25 Poll, currently stands at 39-17 on the year and 12-12 in the Southeastern Conference as it aims for a seventh NCAA Tournament berth.
