New MSU Baseball Commitment

Right-handed pitcher Ben Paullus (6-2, 185) of Desoto Central High School has committed to Mississippi State.

"I committed to Mississippi State (Thursday)," said Paullus who was selected one of the top 5 baseball players in the city of Memphis and surrounding area by The Commercial Appeal. "I called (MSU assistant) Coach (Tommy) Raffo. He was the one who recruited me. He was very excited."

He explained why he chose Mississippi State.

"I already liked them and they are in the SEC," said the hard-throwing righty who consistently throws his fastball in the 87-91 miles per hour range, topping out at 92 . "And they need pitching."

Paullus went 11-0 for the season, including a 6-0 shutout of the nationally ranked Tupelo Golden Wave.

Paullus, who has not signed a scholarship yet, joins Eupora High School RHP/OF Devin Jones (6-3, 170), Bayou Academy RHP/INF Caleb Reed (5-10, 200), St. John's College High School (Washington, DC) LHP Nick Routt (6-4, 200), McKeel Academy (Lakeland, FL) INF Frankie Rawdow (5-11, 165), Hewitt-Trussville (AL) High School RHP Tyler Johnson (6-2, 190), and Homewood (AL) High School LHP David Hayes (6-2, 170), all of whom are MSU signees.
