Cohen Tabs Bratton as Director of Baseball

Newly hired baseball coach John Cohen continues to build his staff with coaches with ties to the Magnolia State. West Point's Tyler Bratton has been named as Cohen's Director of Baseball Operations. Tyler's father, Marion Bratton, shares his thoughts on the move.

"It has been a dream for him since he started going to baseball camps at Mississippi State University at six years old to play there," said Marion. "With me being a coach, he's been around the game his whole life. He decided that he wanted to do this for a living, so he went after it and he got it."

Tyler is believed to have had one interview with John Cohen last weekend.

For a baseball family like the Brattons, Tyler's appointment to baseball operations is a great source of pride.

"We're really proud of him," said Bratton. "He has been coaching with me since he got out of high school. He knows the game. It's a great feeling for me and Emily to see Tyler succeed at something he really wants to do."

Coach Bratton is excited about the future of Mississippi State baseball and he is anxious to see his son continue to be heavily involved with the Diamond Dawgs.

"I think Coach Cohen is going to do a good job," said Marion. "I hate that Coach Polk retired, but I am glad the new coach they hired is a former Bulldog.

I hate it for the former staff, but being part of the coaching ranks myself you know these kind of things happen.

Tyler played up there and then he's been a student assistant. I am just glad the new staff thought enough of him to let him be part of it all."
