Has Three At The Top

Judd Edwards, a 6-0, 190-pound senior-to-be shortstop from Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama, has three schools at the top of his list.

"I've talked to Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Memphis UAB, South Alabama and Samford (since college coaches could start calling the class of 2009)," said Judd, who is the starting shortstop for the Excel Blue Wave summer traveling team. "Alabama, Auburn and Memphis are my favorite schools."

Although he hasn't receiving any offers, he's optimistic one school will be coming through with one in the next couple of weeks.

"I don't have any official offers yet, but I'm expecting at least one soon," said Judd. "I think Memphis is going to offer. I'm not sure about any of the others."

He also believes Memphis could be close to offering him the opportunity to come in for an official visit.

"Hopefully, I will be getting an in-home visit from the Memphis coaching staff sometime this month, then take an official visit up there this fall," said Judd.

Judd has the same strengths as another Oxford High School shortstop - former Mississippi State Bulldog baseball player Matthew Maniscalco.

"My strengths are probably my glove, baserunning and my knowledge of the game," said Judd. "My glove is similar to (Matthew's), but he has a stronger arm."
