Kendall Graveman Recruiting Update

Benjamin Russell High School (Alexander City, AL) pitcher Kendall Graveman is looking at several schools, but two stand out in his mind. And both are from the Southeastern Conference.

"Mississippi State, Auburn and UAB called (July 1st)," said Kendall.

According to his summer travel team coach, former Auburn head coach Mark Fuller, Kendall has also received interest from, "Jacksonville State and Troy."

As for offers, Kendall said, "Mississippi State has offered. And I had an offer from Auburn before their coaching change. I've heard from their new coaching staff, but they haven't offered."

At one time Kendall was committed to Auburn, but things changed when the previous staff was fired.

"I was committed to Auburn but with the coaching staff change I opened it back up," said Kendall.

But Auburn is definitely still in the mix, as is a school across the state line.

"I would say Mississippi State and Auburn are probably about the same right now," said Kendall.

He commented on what he likes about both programs.

"They are close to home and they have a good program. The new coach has called and gotten in touch with me. And he seemed to be real nice. I haven't gotten to talk to their other coaches."

Mississippi State
"Mississippi State is high on my list because of coaching and they are recruiting me pretty hard. I know their coaching staff real well. They have a great program, too. And Mississippi State has tons of fans. I guess baseball is number 1 there."

So far, he has one visit planned in the near future, an unofficial to Mississippi State.

"I'm going to make an unofficial visit to Mississippi State on the 16th (of July)," said Kendall, who is being recruited as a pitcher. "And they have talked to me about an official visit, but it will be in the fall."

He talked about what you will see when he's on the mound.

"I have a pretty good arm and a competitive spirit ... I'm fiery a little bit and get after people," said the 6-0, 170-pounder. "I throw a fastball, curveball and a changeup. But I'm really mainly a fastball, curveball pitcher with the changeup being my third pitch. My out pitch is my 12-6 curveball."

Kendall is not only a great baseball player, but a pretty good student in the classroom as evidenced by his 4.00 grade point average and 23 ACT.
