Although he knew he was going to receive calls, the large number definitely caught him off-guard.
"I expected some, but not as many as I received," said Tucker. "Our organization has a scout day and when I got back to the car and checked my phone I had 21 missed calls and something like 10 voicemails. It was overwhelming the first couple of days."
And he's also received several offers - with more to come.
"I've received offers from Georgia Tech, USC, and San Diego," said Tucker. "And a lot of other people like South Carolina and Louisville have said they are going to offer pretty soon. They are just waiting on me."
As for favorites, his dad, Kevin Barnhart, said Tucker is primarily looking at the SEC and ACC. And Tucker confirmed that.
"Those two conferences are definitely probably where I will end up going," he said. "But I'm still very much open and don't really want to shut any doors right now."
Two things are at the top of his list when it comes time to choose a college.
"Playing time is definitely important, and the conference is also important," said Tucker.
Tucker, who is being recruited as a catcher, talked about his strengths on the diamond.
"I would say my defense is going to carry me in the long run because I'm not a 6-3 power-hitter that is going to hit balls a long way," he said. "And I love to play the game. I also hate to lose in any thing whether it's playing baseball or even playing video games. I just hate to lose. I also have quick hands and quick feet. I've pretty much played middle infield all my life off and on. Now I mostly catch. Catching is my calling."
And another calling for him is receiving calls from college coaches.
