Graveman is Headed to Starkville

Kendall Graveman grew up a big fan of Alabama Crimson Tide Football. The Pine State native will make the move across state lines to spend his college baseball career at Mississippi State where he will look to strike the Tiders out rather than cheer them on.

"I have committed to be a Mississippi State Bulldog," said an excited Kendall Graveman. "Coach called me today and gave me a little bonus in scholarship money, but that wasn't the deciding factor for me. I had been praying about this for a long time and I just feel it's the right time for me to go ahead and commit."

Kendall took an unofficial visit to Mississippi State earlier this week where he had the chance to see everything the Diamond Dawgs have to offer.

"The facilities are amazing," said Graveman. "Everything there is state of the art and they are looking to upgrade what they already have. I haven't seen anything like what Mississippi State has at any of the other schools I have seen."

MSU baseball coach John Cohen appears to have made quite an impression on the talented right handed pitcher.

"From the first time I met Coach Cohen it felt like I had known him for years," said Kendall. "He's a real genuine person. He's real smart and he's real organized. When I went in his office it was set up just how I would set mine up if I was a coach."

Graveman has been on the recruiting radar of MSU pitching coach Butch Thompson for some time. The relationship was a key factor in Kendall's recruitment.

"Coach Thompson is a friend to me," said Kendall. "I can call him anytime and talk about anything. It doesn't just have to be about baseball. I can always talk to him."

Once Kendall spoke with his parents about his desire to commit to Mississippi State, he found the family was already in agreement.

"My parents would support me no matter what I decided," said Graveman. "My dad told me that it was going to be my decision, but when I told them I was thinking about committing to Mississippi State they had the same feeling I did about things."
