Clay-Chalkville HS LHP Adam Windsor

Clay-Chalkville High School (Pinson, AL) lefthanded pitcher Adam Windsor has several colleges showing weekly interest in him.

"I've received calls from Alabama, UAB, Samford and Mississippi State," said Windsor. "They are calling me every week. And my coach told me that Auburn is supposed to be calling me soon."

Two of the five have offered scholarships with another offer on the way.

"UAB and Alabama have offered scholarships," said Windsor, who has very good command of a fastball that he throws in the 85-87 miles per hour range. "And Coach Casey Dunn at Samford told me he wants to come by my house and offer me."

He's recently visited the schools or met the head coach of three of the schools.

"I've (unofficially) visited Alabama and UAB Coach (Brian) Shoop came by my house," said Windsor. "And I've visited Samford on an unofficial."

As for which schools he prefers, he has a tentative list of three.

"I like UAB, Alabama and Mississippi State," noted the 6-0, 175-pounder.

He explained in detail why he prefers these three schools.

"We've always been big Alabama fans, my entire family. We toured the campus and it was awesome. And I think they have a good baseball team and good coaches. I would love to play for them."

"Their (head) coach is awesome. He's a great guy who I have heard nothing but good things about him. When he came by he had everything ready about the campus, the good things that stick out about the baseball program. It was really impressive everything that he said."

Mississippi State
"I went down there two summers ago for a team camp and I went there for a pitcher/catcher camp. I love the campus. Butch Thompson, the new pitching coach, and I have talked before. He is a great guy. My coach told me that he had asked about me when he was at Auburn. Then, we finally talked either July 3rd or 4th."

While Mississippi State has made his final wish list, the fact that they are an out-of-state school could hurt their chances.

"I really think it will end up between UAB, Alabama or Auburn if Auburn offers. If Auburn doesn't offer, then it would be Alabama, UAB or Samford," said Windsor. "The out of state tuition hurts Mississippi State. I would need another point on my ACT to knock that off. And the next time I take my ACT I would already know what college that I'm going to."
