Bulldog Football Trio Re-admitted to MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State University re-admitted Bulldog football student-athletes Anthony Johnson, Rodney Prince and Jamon Hughes to the institution, it was announced Wednesday.

Johnson, Prince and Hughes had withdrawn from the university during the 2008 spring semester and were required to re-apply.

Johnson and Prince will be placed back on scholarship and will rejoin the football program when classes begin at MSU on Aug. 18. Hughes will be given the opportunity to walk-on the team as a non-scholarship student-athlete at that time. All three players may practice with the team, but are ineligible to compete in 2008.

"We are thankful that the university has given these three young men the opportunity to finish their education at Mississippi State," head football coach Sylvester Croom said. "For them, this is a second chance.

"I hope that all of our players have learned a valuable lesson from this situation. and understand there are consequences of making bad decisions and choices."

Croom indicated that he would not comment further on this matter.
