He explained why Mississippi State.
"Basically, that is were I have wanted to go," said Montrell. "They committed to me and I have committed to them.
"I am in a position up there that I want to be in. And they have what I am looking for in a father figure.
"When I went on my visit they treated me like I was already a teammate up there.
"It was everything that I was looking for."
Mississippi State came in first on a list that included many of the other top programs in the nation.
"I also considered Alabama, USC, and Oklahoma on my final list of schools," said Montrell.
With the commitment, Montrell can now relax again.
"I'm excited it's over and I'm relieved that it's over. It's like Christmas every day now. It's not just to say that I've committed earlier and got everything over, but I feel like I'm doing the right thing and that I'm going to a great place.
"Coach Croom has coached NFL running backs. And the coaches aren't just telling me things that I want to hear. They are Christian guys who are men of their word."
