Gene's Page caught up with Tyler Thursday night to discuss his commitment to MSU.

Tyler, I've heard a rumor that you have committed to MSU. Is that true?
"I committed today. I called Coach Sherrill last Saturday and gave him a heads up."

Why did you decid to go ahead and commit now?
"I wanted to let them know where I stood. I also felt it might help Mississippi State with other players they are after in Mississippi if I went ahead and committed.

How does it feel to get your commitment out of the way?
"It is a big load off my mind. I can now concentrate on lifting and getting ready for baseball."

Your dad played at State. What was his reaction to you committing to his alma mater?
"He was happy, but he would have been happy with any school that I chose."

I know you were highly recruited. What schools are calling you?
"Tennessee, Mississippi State of course, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, LSU and Auburn."

Of those schools, which ones have offered you a scholarship?
"All of them."

Have you set up any official visits?
"I'm going to State on January 10th and Ole Miss on the 24th. I'll also probably go to Tennessee and Baton Rouge, but I'm not really sure about that."

Thanks for the interview, Tyler.
"Alright, Gene."
