Tracy Olson...."A Sure Win" for everyone

As noted a few weeks ago, Tracy Olson, a wife and a mother of a 5-year old girl, has recurrent leukemia and will need a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, in addition to the physical/health concerns of this illness, there are serious financial issues as well. I'm not going through all of the details but just to be bluntly honest, Tracy will not have a chance of seeing her child grow up or enjoy some of the other things in life we have come to take for granted without the transplant.

Tracy's husband lost his father to leukemia and he is going through this nightmare for a second time. Folks, we have an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of so many people with this. As The Word says (not that I'm a Bible scholar) but "to those entrusted with much, much is expected" (paraphrase). I am not the wealthiest person in terms of money but am wealthier than Sam Walton or Bill Gates when I think about my blessings.

Depending on the availability, we will set up a "Tracy Olson Marrow Drive" tailgate on the Ole Miss campus somewhere around the "Walk of Champions". There will be a yellow banner with blue letters inscripted "Tracy Olson Marrow Drive". Fans of both Mississippi State and Ole Miss are bringing food, plus a little more than they normally bring, but if you are not able to bring anything, fine, just come and fellowship and have a good time. No pressure will be used, just an opportunity presented to contribute if one feels led to do so after reading literature detailing Tracy's situation. Ole Miss and State fans alike are strongly encouraged to attend.

I beg you (laying pride aside) to give this serious consideration. And please don't trivialize this as an OM-State situation because both OM and State fans will have a "win-win" experience. If it meant that Tracy's or anyone's life would be saved, I could care less if a football game was ever played again on either campus.

Thank to all of you who have opened your hearts and volunteered to help with prayers, financial support and participation in this has been overwhelming. It is true that in situations such as this, you find the best and worst in people....fortunately it has been overwhelmingly the best. Look forward to seeing you there! Happy Thanksgiving!

If you aren't able to attend but would like to make a financial contribution, you can do so by mailing your check to:
