Junior Taurice King Receiving Looks

Yazoo City (MS) High School has produced a long list of Division-I college prospects, the latest being all-everything defensive end Fletcher Cox who will be signing with Mississippi State next Wednesday. Exit Cox, enter junior linebacker Taurice King.

The new kid on the college recruiting block at Yazoo City High School is junior linebacker Taurice King who has a combination of size (6-2, 218), speed (4.6 forty) and strength (315 BP, 505 squat, 600 dead-lift) that is rarely seen in underclassmen.

While the college recruiting letters are coming in just about every day, two schools have seen enough to extend Junior Day invitations.

According to Yazoo City High School head football coach Tony Woolfolk, "Ole Miss is showing him a lot of attention. They want him to come for their Junior Day. And Alabama has also asked him to come to their Junior Day. Those are the two that are really starting the recruiting process with him. He's also receiving a lot of letters as well."

Tony explained what college coaches like about Taurice.

"Taurice is a head-hunter," noted Tony. "He's also all over the field, sideline to sideline. And he never gives up on plays."

Although it's early in the recruiting process, Taurice has a few schools that he's tentatively interested in.

"I like Ole Miss, Mississippi State, all the schools in Mississippi," he said. "I also like Florida State, Ohio State and USC."

With this year's recruiting about to wind down, the highways leading into Yazoo City will see a little less traffic, but look for it to pick back up when spring recruiting rolls around.
