"I'm 6-3.5 and I weigh 310 pounds. I run a 5.2 in the 40."
What position do you play?
"I play (offensive) tackle."
How long has Mississippi State been recruiting you?
"I would say about 3 months."
Who is recruiting you from MSU?
"Coach (Jim) Tompkins."
What do you think about Coach Tompkins?
"Oh, he is a real nice guy. He is a straight shooter. He is real forward with what he has to say and does not beat around the bush. He sounds like he really has his players best interests in mind. I mean, he really doesn't know me except through recruiting and he always makes sure I have my school work done and he seems to be concerned about his players. He is a real good guy."
Tell us what kind of year you had.
"We had a real good year. We just won the state championship this past Thursday. I had a good year. I didn't give up any sacks and probably had the best year of football that I've ever had."
No sacks, that's great. So you must consider yourself a better pass blocker than run blocker?
"Well, I used to think I was a run blocker, but now I consider myself a balanced lineman. When I need to pass block I can do that, and when I need to run block I can do that too."
What schools are recruiting you?
"Right now I've got South Florida, Middle Tennessee State, Iowa, Syracuse, the University of the Hamptons and MSU....that's about it."
How many of those schools have offered you a scholarship?
Do you have a visit set up at MSU. If so, when is it?
"Yes, I'm visiting there on January 17th."
What other visits do you have set up?
"I'm going to South Florida on the 10th, and I forgot, Southern Miss is recruiting me too. I'm visiting there too. And I have Middle Tennessee State on the 24th. I might set one up with the University of the Hamptons."
Are you leaning anywhere right now?
"No, not really. I'm going to wait and take my visits to determine that."
Obviously, you have the size and speed to be a good SEC lineman, would you say you have that mean streak you need to be a great one?
"Oh, I like it when it's 3rd and 1 or 4th and goal. I tell my coach to run it behind me. I like to just get down on all fours and just go after it, you know. In the playoffs, my coach told me he was just going to put it on my shoulders, and on the other linemen, and we ended up with 347 rushing yards."
Wow! That's a lot of rushing yards. You must have that mean streak then. Well, I know it is a school night so I'll let you go. I really appreciate the interview.
