There are several things about Chad Girodo that really impresses Steve.
"He is a very hard-working kid who has the best pickoff move that I have ever seen," noted Steve. "He has command of his fastball and works both sides of the plate. He also has a really good changeup and two curveballs. One curveball is a little slower than the other. The harder curve is the one he uses to get strikeouts."
Steve has been impressed with the improvement that Chad has made with his fastball velocity since he played for him last summer.
"He was throwing his fastball 80 to 81 (miles per hour) with us during the summer and he's now throwing it 84 to 85, topping out at 86," said Steve.
Steve compares him to another lefty who had an outstanding career at Mississippi State.
"He reminds me a lot of Justin Pigott," said Steve.
Girodo, who is a teammate of another MSU signee LHP Luke Bole, is Mississippi State's 15th signee during the fall, 2008 and spring, 2009 signing periods.
Mississippi State is also expected to sign Blinn College shortstop, Jonathan Ogden, during the spring signing period and possiby two or three more players as well.
