Juco RHP To Visit MSU This Weekend

Corey Collins, a righthanded junior college pitcher who played for Seward County CC the past two years, is officially visiting Mississippi State this weekend.

"Mississippi State started recruiting me during the playoffs," said Corey Collins. "I am officially visiting them this weekend."

Corey was 9-3 with a 2.59 earned run average this past season for Seward County (KS) Community College.

Corey has a three pitch repetoire.

"I throw a sinker, curveball and changeup," said the 6-6, 195-pounder. "My velocity is in the mid-80s."

Mississippi State is one of four schools that he's considering.

"I'm also visiting Southeast Missouri State, Oklahoma State, and Northern Colorado," said Corey.

He explained what he likes about each college.

"I like Mississippi State because of the tradition that they have in baseball. I like Oklahoma State because of their tradition and because they are in the Big 12. I like Southeast Missouri State because they have a good baseball program and it's close to home. Northern Colorado is not that good in baseball but it's closed to my home and I like that."

As of now, he doesn't expect to make a quick decision.

"I plan on making my decision after my (official) visits," said Corey.

We'll have another interview with Corey after his official visit to Mississippi State.
