Juco RHP Commits to Mississippi State

Corey Collins, a righthanded junior college pitcher who played for Seward County (KS) Community College the past two years, has committed to Mississippi State.

"I just committed to Mississippi State," said Corey Collins, who chose MSU over offers from Oklahoma State, Southeast Missouri State and Northern Colorado. "It was the place that I felt the most comfortable. There were a lot of factors involved in it - distance being one of them, the coaches, the conference and all that."

While excited about committing, he's also relieved the process is now over with.

"I am excited and relieved to get the process over with and I'm ready to move onto a bigger and better place," said Corey. "And, hopefully, help that team out."

The coach recruiting him for Mississippi State was just as excited.

"(Assistant Coach Butch Thompson) seemed the same way and excited that I finally committed," noted the 6-6, 195-pounder.

Corey, who was 9-3 with an earned run average of 2.76 this past season, will be attending Mississippi State this fall.

Corey is Mississippi State's 19th signee or commitment in the 2008-2009 recruiting class.
